Lennestadt. In the heart of the Nature Park Sauerland-Rothaargebirge. Once shaped by mining, today focuses on "family friendliness". Surrounded by a topographically varied, densely wooded landscape. The Lenne flows through it and the planning area also nestles against it: the outdoor facilities of the leisure, culture and school center (FKS center) "Auf'm Ohl". With a spacious and architecturally designed community square in the center. Project goals: Upgrading of the new center, which was formed after the merger of two schools. An attractive, future-oriented place of identification should be created. It is also actively used outside of school hours, for example at the “Culture in the Educational Center” event location. Also essential: Sensible structuring of pedestrian and rolling traffic as well as the links with adjacent structures. Central idea: Two contrasting structures characterize the place: the soft landscape around the renatured Lenne and the orthogonal building ensemble as well as the logo of the FKS center. The design respects both structures and combines them into a new entity.
